De Jong negotiating another salary adjustment with Barcelona

Frenkie de Jong is now likely to remain part of the Barcelona squad this season. Despite the tension throughout the summer and the interest from England, he wants to stay.

In that sense, he is open to speaking about contractual situation despite having already reduced and deferred large parts of his salary. His agent and the club will speak about restructuring his contract from this season they are exchanging proposals to try and find a favourable agreement.

De Jong and his camp were annoyed with Barça because they believed the club leaked that the contract could be illegal. They believe that was to pressure him to accept to either negotiate new terms or agree to move to Manchester United or Chelsea. But the Dutchman is not convinced bu the other offers and while he is grateful he would prefer to remain at Camp Nou.

He does not want to leave and he's told that to Barcelona from day one.

United fought the hardest and sounded out the situation again this week. There was an agreement with Barça in July but De Jong never wanted to move there.

De Jong staying could have consequences for Bernardo Silva, although everything will depend on the fair play Barça can create before the transfer window closes. The club are working on other exits, salary adjustments and different ways to be able to affront more signings.
