Joan Laporta's first task for ex-player Deco back at Barcelona

Deco will be tasked with tracking the brightest prospects in South America

Barcelona are working on next season already. They know their financial situation obliges them to not only get any investments right, but also find players before they explode.

In that area, the young players in South America, especially Brazil, are playing an important role. President Joan Laporta has already handed Deco his first mission in that sense, making him the club's new scout in that part of the world.

The former Barça player, who was at Camp Nou for the Atletico Madrid game recently, already knows he has to target players aged 17-19 in the continent, with a special focus on Brazil.

The idea is to work medium to long term but without ruling out any hypothetical signings this summer, in principle for Barça B, if an opportunity arises.

Therefore, Barça now have a replacement for Andre Cury as their main scout in South America as they intensify the search for the next Neymar or Lionel Messi.
