The Barcelona president thinks it is currently a good reminder of the state-funded clubs issue

Joan Laporta was in Geneva this week at the UN to officially present the alliance between Barcelona and UNHCR (United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees).

During the visit, he spoke about the need for financial fair play to be harmonised to allow Barcelona to compete with teams in other leagues like the French and English top flights.

He was also speaking about the Super League and said that it’s still going. “For now we have no competition format for the Super League, it’s a long process, but it serves to make Europe aware that there are 'state-clubs' that are altering the competition. There is full willingness to negotiate with UEFA and I think that in the end rough edges will be ironed out and a dialogue will be established.”
