Joan Laporta says Ronald Koeman will stay as Barca coach
Koeman will stay for at least another year on the bench
The wait is over. Joan Laporta has confirmed that Ronald Koeman will stay as Barcelona coach for at least the next season.
After various weeks of uncertainty and meetings, the board have finally settled on the Dutchman as the next coach.
“Don’t rule out Koeman,” said Laporta and that has proven to be the case.
“After this period of reflection with the coach, in which we analysed the end of the season and how to look at the future, we’ve decided to give him continuity with his contract in place. We had frank and direct conversations. I want to highlight the impeccable attitude of Koeman. I think him staying is the best for Barca.”
Koeman has a reduced wage but it grows if he wins titles, and as SPORT have learned, he also has an extra optional year in the case of winning two trophies.
