Joan Laporta hints he will run in Barca's next elections

During Barca's AGM, during the socios questions section, one of them asked Joan Laporta if he intends to stand in the next elections for the presidency and asked of him that if he does not, he should let one of his directors do so.

The president has hinted that he will stand. "Legally I could do it. As long as I can and I can do it, I will do it and I will want to do it with this board of directors because they make an effort, they work and they are committed to the project. And then we'll see. Whoever the members want to be president here ends up being president," said Laporta.

During this question time, the board of directors confirmed that they have filed more than 20 lawsuits against journalists or YouTubers for defamation and "some have already borne fruit, forcing them to rectify" their comments.

He was also asked about Alejandro Echevarría's role at the club, linking the president's ex-brother-in-law to the Francisco Franco Foundation: "We are committed to democracy and the country and we respect everyone's way of thinking. There is room for everyone at Barça".

And he also spoke about the possibility of doing business with Qatar: "I was very critical when I was told that the Qatar Foundation was the same as Unicef. It's not my job to get involved with the country, with any country in the world. If we can get contracts from countries where football is emerging, I think we should be aware of the opportunities."
