The La Liga president once again spoke about Barça's financial situation

Javier Tebas spoke to El Transistor about the state of Spanish football, from Barcelona's financial situation through to the position of Real Madrid and their president Florentino Perez on the European Super League.

On the Super League, Tebas was once again clear that he opposes the project: "If the clubs have broken UEFA's rules then they have to be punished. This is serious, regardless of whether the clubs are Spanish or not.

"What hurts me is that Madrid want a Super League that could ruin European football and the football in the respective countries.

"They may be the driving forces (in La Liga) but all the clubs are necessary, they seem to forget that. I am not going up against Barcelona, I'm defending the rest. It hurts that they're pushing for a league that would ruin Spanish and European football.

"Barça's stance has surprised me. Their financial situation could explain why they want to join the league. Barça start from a situation of losing €320 million, half of La Liga's losses. They can only spend 25 percent of what they bring in for players.

"They have to reduce salaries or bring in money from player sales. I can't say what Barça's plan is but they know if they don't cut spending, they can't sign anyone."
