Ivan Rakitic on who could replace Leo Messi as world's best player

Ivan Rakitic spoke about who is in line to follow Messi as the next 'world's best' and also spoke about Andres Iniesta

Ivan Rakitic, FC Barcelona's Croatian central midfielder, is concentrating on the clash with Manchester City in the Champions League. However, in the mixed zone after the game against Granada he spoke about who could one day replace Lionel Messi on the podium as the world's best player in the future.

Rakitic told the Hindustan Times: "Neymar and Messi are different. We we speak about now, there's no doubt, Messi is the best. However, I'm sure if Neymar continues on this path he will become the next best player in the world. He's very young and has many years ahead of him to play. We will enjoy them both a lot in the coming years."

Rakitic added that "only by being in the dressing room you can already learn a lot from them. Nobody gives you anything when you arrive at a dressing room, nobody tells you that you are the best. They work hard, they do it in all the games and in training."

On Iniesta's injury he added: "We need his presence, we miss his football, but football has these things, there are injuries. Players like Iniesta are unique. It's not easy to have another player at his level."
