The sky blues' director has suggested that the Portuguese's move to FC Barcelona is unlikely

The icing on the cake for FC Barcelona's transfer business is Bernardo Silva.

The club want the Portuguese in their squad, but are now up against time. With just a week left until the transfer window closes, Manchester City have dampened the prospects for the player's exit.

Manchester City's executive director, Ferran Soriano, discussed the matter in an interview with Cadena SER's 'Què t'hi jugues' programme. "It's a bit late to talk about arrivals and departures," he declared.

The opportunity is not entirely lost, but time is clearly against Barça.

It is a complicated operation, as the arrival of Bernardo Silva is conditional on the departure of Frenkie de Jong from the club.

The Dutchman is determined to stay in Barça, and the club's salary constraints prevents the Portuguese from joining.

Although Bernado Silva has reportedly agreed personal terms with FC Barcelona, he will have to continue with his current club during the charity match tonight. The match will raise funds for the fight against ALS, promoted by Juan Carlos Unzué.
