The Barça midfielder suggested his international days are numbered

Andres Iniesta is preparing for what are likely to be his final months as a Spain player. The Barcelona midfielder is enjoying them, aware that the World Cup in Russia is likely to be the end of his international career. And he wants to go out in the best way possible.

In an interview with El Larguero, he said that "I dream of the same farewell as everyone... I hope it will be a sweet goodbye."

Iniesta spoke with nostalgia about his Spain career, saying that "beyond my last game for Spain, everything else is still there. People will remember what this national team has done. I hope my last game will see a victory."

The Barça captain reflected that "due to the moment, it could be my last involvement with the national team [this summer]. It's similar to the situation with my club. I don't want to be there for the sake of it. I don't need to be there because of who I am or what I have been. The only focus is sporting and trying to achieve objectives."

He added: "What I feel most proud of is to have formed part of the best years of the national team, while being an important player, too. There's nothing nicer than that."
