The captain didn't play against Real Sociedad on Sunday

A calf injury is set to keep him out of the Catalan derby, too

Andres Iniesta, who didn't play on Sunday at Anoeta due to a calf problem, didn't take part in Barcelona's final training session before Wednesday's Copa del Rey derby against Espanyol.

The Barça captain travelled to San Sebsatian but was not able to take part in the win over Real Sociedad and on Tuesday he was unable to train with his teammates at the Ciudad Deportiva del Barça.

Therefore, everything suggests he will miss the quarterfinal first leg at Cornella-El Prat.

In contrast, Nelson Semedo returned to training after missing the La Real game and Monday's light session with tonsillitis.

Ernesto Valverd did not call up Jose Arnaiz, though, the Barça B forward who has played in all four Copa del Rey games so far this season, against Real Murcia and Celta Vigo.

Both Paco Alcacer and Samuel Umtiti continue to train with the group as they edge closer to returns to first team football.

Alcacer could be included against Espanyol but Umtiti will have to wait a few more days before he's given the green light, according to Ernesto Valverde.
