Lothar Matthaus believes that Bayern president Hoeness would lose credibility if the club signed the French winger

Former Bayern Munich and German international, Lothar Matthäus, believes that current Bayern president Uli Hoeness would lose credibility if the club signed Ousmane Dembele this summer.

"When I think about the scandals Dembele created at Borussia Dortmund and at Barcelona, I don't see any reason to believe his behaviour would be any different at Bayern," Matthãus told 'Bild'.

Matthäus remembers that Hoeness strongly criticised Dembele when he went on strike at Dortmund to force his move to Barcelona.

"Uli Hoeness' position was clear when Dembele went on strike at Dortmund. If Bayern sign hin, his credibility will be hurt."

Dembele would be expected to hit the ground running and if he didn't, it could cause even greater problems at the club.

Matthäus believes that Leroy Sane would be a wiser choice as he'd adapt much quicker to the team.

"With the Frenchman, you don't know if he'll want to play in another league next year."
