Iago Aspas: the top Spanish scorer takes aim at Barcelona

Aspas has scored four goals against Barça. Only Messi, Cristiano and Suarez have scored more than him

Celta Vigo are far and away Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen's "black beast". The German goalkeeper has conceded 10 goals to Celta in only three games, and four of those goals have been scored by Iago Aspas.

"The magician from Moaña" is enjoying his best moment right now, and he has already equalled his goal tally from last season of 19 and he has six games in front of him to improve on it. Only Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo and Luis Suarez have beaten that number.

His first opportunity to add to that tally comes tonight against a Barcelona side that he just loves scoring against, especially at Celta's home ground Balaidos. In the 4-3 win for Celta last season, Aspas scored the second goal after an impressive run and finish with his left foot. And in the emphatic 4-1 win the season before, Aspas scored a double with two magisterial individual runs. Ter Stegen will never forget the delicious chip Aspas sent over his head and into the goal.

This season, Aspas scored against Barça too. He netted the opening goal in the 2-2 draw at Camp Nou, beginning a counterattack and then gobbling up Maxi Gomez's shot on the rebound.

closer to the world cup dream

Every time Aspas scores he kisses his club badge and his goals are taking him closer to his big dream: playing in the World Cup.

His 19 goals this season have lead to Spain coach Julen Lopetegui calling him up for the friendlies against Germany and Argentina and Aspas made the most of the opportunity, scoring and providing an assist in the 6-1 drubbing of Argentina. Aspas not only deserves to go to the World Cup, he deserves a place in the starting 11. Aspas is on fire at the moment and tonight he is Barça's biggest threat.
