Hows does Aleix Vidal's future change after injuring his ankle?

The right-back had offers but will now almost certainly remain at Barcelona for another year

Aleix Vidal's plans for the future will change after he suffered a serious ankle injury at the weekend, ruling him out for five months.

The footballer had just made his way back into Luis Enrique's plans after a complicated season, but now has seen the brakes put on once again.

There was a chance that he could have left in the summer if Barça signed a right-back, but his injury means he's unlikely to be in good shape in preseason, so he may be set for another season at Camp Nou.

Vidal's had a tough season. He began it in the team, but he was then left out of the squad frequently and the club were even prepared to move him on in January.

Without finding a replacement, though, and through the player's hard work and humility, Luis Enrique recalled him and he was playing really well.

Despite that, his future was not clear and there were various European teams interested in signing him in June.

The injury will see him stay this summer. Aleix still has three years on his contract with Barça and the club have told him to focus on his recovery and not think about his future.

Barça are counting on him and the important thing is that he's back in action as soon as possible.
