How Rodrigo Caio's loan to Barcelona was stopped at the last moment
The Catalans had agreed a deal with the Brazilian side Sao Paulo FC
Rodrigo Caio, the Sao Paulo Brazilian centre-back, saw his loan move to Barcelona frustrated at the final hurdle. After passing his medical and virtually seeing his loan deal sealed, in the end Barca froze the move after choosing Valencia’s Jeison Murillo.
SPORT have learned that Barca and Sao Paulo agreed a deal to loan Rodrigo for six months, which obliged the Catalans to buy him after for between 15-18 million euros.
Rodrigo wanted to play for Barca. He was excited to come. He was Barca’s plan B if Christensen from Chelsea fell through, But in the end Ernesto Valverde opted for Murillo. The club offered him those options and the coach made his pick.
