How Barcelona stars bid farewell to 2019 & welcomed in the New Year

The majority of the squad are already back in training ahead of Espanyol game

Barcelona players had the day off to bring ion the New Year and aren't due back in training until Jan. 2, when Luis Suarez, Lionel Messi and Arturo Vidal will also be back in.

The squad took advantage of a day off to celebrate the start of 2020 with their loved ones ahead of a busy period of games. Barça play Espanyol on Saturday before flying to Saudi Arabia for the Spanish Super Cup (they face Atletico Madrid in the semifinal on Jan. 9).

As is usual, they took to social media to thank their fans for their support throughout 2019 and wish them a Happy New Year.

Ivan Rakitic posted a photograph with his wife on Instagram, Antoine Griezmann posted an image of a bottle of wine on Instagram Stories and Luis Suarez posted from Uruguay with his wife Sofia Balbi.

One of the most 'Cule' messages came from goalkeeper Neto, who posted a message with an image of his Barça presentation, thanking the year for being "very important in my career."

Nelson Semedo was also sentimental, uploading a photo with his kid with a message reading. "2019 was a very special year for me; may 2020 be even better. Happy New Year everyone!"
