The Uruguayan is hopeful of featuring against Espanyol on Saturday

Luis Suarez could return against Espanyol on Saturday in te hderby, save a last minute setback. The Uruguayan took another step forward in his comeback on Tuesday as he trained on the pitch, confirming coach Ernesto Valverde's optimism.

"We are optimistic," Valverde said. "Suarez won't play [on Wednesday in the Copa del Rey] against Cultural Leonesa but that doesn't mean he won't be available for this weekend."

Suarez has been having treatment on a niggling injury in his right knee over the last week in the gym. But on Tuesday he returned to training on the pitch. If he carries on at the same rate, he should be ready to play in Cornella.

Valverde was less optimistic with Sergi Roberto, who he doesn't know too much about at the moment. It would be "great news" if he returns before Christmas.
