Here is how the Barça squad rated on their preseason tour of Japan

Carles Pérez stood out from the youngsters, as did the new faces at the club this summer

Ernesto Valverde's team have returned to home after a successful tour of Japan. It concluded with a victory over Vissel Kobe, after losing the opener against Chelsea. After a day off on Monday, the Barça squad will get back to work on Tuesday as they prepare for the match against Arsenal.

Excellent

Carles Pérez. The academy star scored two goals against Vissel and impressed against Chelsea too. His directness made him stand out on the tour. Barça can sometimes slow down the pace but Perez offers a different tempo and goes direct for goal.

Very good

Griezmann and De Jong. Two of the three new signings at Barça have hit the ground running. Griezmann has improved game upon game and showed himself to be a fantastic alternative as a 'false nine' too. De Jong played deeper against Chelsea but against Vissel was allowed more freedom to attack. The Dutch star looked comfortable in both roles.

Good

Dembélé and Riqui Puig. It feels like Dembele is happier alongside his fellow countryman Griezmann. The youngster is more involved with the main part of the team and that is reflected out on the pitch. After a long period without playing, he appears confident and is desperate to take on his defender once again. As for Puig, he looked much better against Chelsea but struggled somewhat in the second. He missed a good chance to score against Vissel. Valverde feels the youngster would be more dangerous further up the pitch.

Okay

Youngsters and Rafinha. Some of Barça B's youngsters were forced to play in different positions under Valverde and you have to value their effort. Oriol Busquets and Monchu both filled in at right-back despite being midfielders. On the left, Guillem Jaime played on the opposite side to which he's used to but provided Perez with an assist. All of them showed a great attitude to adjust to their new positions. Rafinha, who appears on the verge of an exit, looked motivated and back to his best after another knee injury.

Below average

Defensive errors and Abe's injury. The team made a few mistakes in defence which, in official matches, would have proved far too costly. Busquets lost the ball against Chelsea and Lenglet was guilty of the same error against Vissel, although Iniesta could only hit the post. The loss of Hiroki Abe due to injury was another negative. At first, it was diagnosed as a knock but he's since spent 10 days unable to train. The Japanese fans were excited at the prospect of seeing the local star turn out for Barça but were ultimately left disappointed.
