The FC Barcelona captain has scored two goals against United and has a great record against the English giants

The Champions League quarter final draw sees FC Barcelona and Manchester United come head to head.

Lionel Messi is no stranger to coming up aganst the Red Devils, having done so on four previous officials. His record reads as one victory, one draw and two victories. Those two successes came in Champions League finals: in 2009 (Rome) and 2011 (Wembley).

The first time the two sides met with Messi in the line up was in the Group Stages of the Champions League. He was replaced by Bojan Krkic on the 23rd April 2008 and he failed to get on the scoresheet.

In the same Group Stage, Leo played 90 minutes at Old Trafford and failed to score. Barça lost 1-0 thanks to a goal from Scholes in the 14th minute.

After that draw and defeat Messi faced United on two further occasions, neither match was played at Old Trafford or the Camp Nou. Instead they took place at Roma's Olimpico Stadium and Wembley respectively.

On 2009, Barça played against United in Rome and won 2-0. Samue; Eto'o scored the opener and Messi grabbed the crucial second with 20 minutes to go.

In the other final, where Messi scored and won again, it took place at Wembley. Pedro scored the first goal, Rooney equalised and then Messi put Barça ahead again in the second half. David Villa scored a third to seal a 3-1 triumph.
