Manchester City will be missing an important player when they travel to Barcelona this month

Pep Guardiola will be without one of his stars for the Champions League game at Camp Nou this month.

It's a game which could be decisive, particularly considering Manchester City were held by Celtic in Scotland last month.

Guardiola will need his best players, but everything now suggests Kevin de Bruyne, the club's Belgian midfielder, will not recover in time for the clash.

After coming to Barcelona to see doctor Ramon Cugat, it looks like he will not recover in time from the muscle injury he sustained against Swansea City.

The game takes place on Oct. 19 and appears to soon for De Bruyne to play. The player is resigned to missing out and will have to wait to return to action. It's feared rushing him back could have led to a relapse, which is why he won't be hurried.

Instead, he could make his comeback against Southampton on Oct. 23, three days before the EFL Cup game against Manchester United and 10 days before Barcelona visit Manchester in the return game.
