The Manchester City coach praised Iniesta after the midfielder said he was leaving Barça

Pep Guardiola gave thanks to Andres Iniesta for sticking by him and assistant coach Tito Vilanova in the difficult early days of his tenure at Barcelona, after the Barça captain announced he is finally leaving the club.

"In the early days, which weren't easy, Tito and I always felt him close by," Pep remembered.

"He was sure that everything would go well for us, and we won't forget that."

Pep's praise of Iniesta did not stop there.

“I want to say thank you. He helped me understand the game better, just watching him and what he does on the football pitch,”  he added.

“I could say a lot of things but basically the pleasure of seeing him train, how everything was easy, I think the most impressive thing about him is how naturally he played. That is very difficult to find in a football player.”
