Griezmann open to a wage cut if he ends up staying at Barcelona
The forward has drawn interest from Atletico and England but there's no concrete offer
Antoine Griezmann has already communicated his transfer window plan: he will only leave Barcelona to return to Atletico Madrid.
But if he has to stay at Barça, he's ready to sit down and discuss a possible wage reduction, as the rest of the club's biggest earners have done, starting with Lionel Messi.
Only Atletico
Following several reports about Griezmann's future, including the possible swap deal with Atletico for Saul Niguez or a move to England, a meeting took place between the player and his agents.
Griezmann's message was clear. If he has to leave Barça, he's only ready to speak to Atletico. He knows Diego Simeone wants him back and does not want a new adventure in the Premier League.
However, Barça don't want a repeat of the Luis Suarez situation and hope to finalise a transfer, which benefits them financially this time.
No concrete offer
Griezmann's preference is to stay at Barça for now because in the conversations so far there has been no concrete offer to leave. In fact, this week he re-joined the squad for pre-season training and is working as normal under coach Ronald Koeman.
What's more, Griezmann said that if he does stay, he would have no problem sitting down to discuss new terms and a possible wage but, as is the case with other players, starting with Messi who has negotiated a 50 percent wage cut.
