Griezmann benched for first time since joining Barça from Atletico

Dembele replaced the Frenchman in the side against Sevilla on Sunday

Barcelona forward Antoine Griezmann was relegated to the bench for Sunday's La Liga game against Sevilla with Ousmane Dembele preferred in his place.

It's the first time the France forward has been left out of the starting lineup at Barça since he joined from Atletico Madrid for 120 million euros.

Until now, he had started all nine games the Catalans have played in the league and the Champions League, scoring three goals in the process.

His performances have been criticised in some quarters due to the fact he's been isolated on the left and hasn't yet displayed an understanding with Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez.

Ernesto Valverde has gone for Dembele on Sunday, presumably for two reasons: the first is to try and increase Jesus Navas' defensive duties and the second is to add variety and pace to the side.

Valverde's not often had so many attackers available. With Messi and Suarez also starting, Griezmann is joined on the bench by Ansu Fati, while Carles Perez doesn't make the squad.
