Getafe coach Quique responds to Xavi's complaints about the pitch

The Barcelona coach had moaned about the state of the surface on Sunday

It had been months since the issue of a pitch had generated controversy. Sunday afternoon's surface at the Coliséum Alfonso Pérez was very dry and high as Barcelona and Getafe drew 0-0. The ball didn't roll with speed. But that is a factor that teams can use at home as they see fit. Within limits.

Barça coach Xavi admitted in the post-match press conference that the dry grass didn't help his team at all. He added that it was no excuse and that the key to the match was his team's lack of ideas. But neither the state of the pitch nor the schedule helped.

"We have a considerable gap but we can't relax. We need to recover our sensations and, apart from that, today's game was a difficult one to play given the state of the pitch. We have created chances but we're not at our best," he said.

Getafe coach Quique Sanchez Flores 'responded' to Xavi's comments: "I'm not going to go into it, but we haven't played on clay, we've played on a beautiful pitch, where we've been playing all season and which was the same for both of us."

He added that "when you go there they leave it very short and very fast. Everyone plays with the tools they have. We haven't muddied anything."
