Gerard Pique's 10th booking of the season sees him close in on Wakaso
The defender will be banned for Sunday's trip to Real Betis
Gerard Pique picked up his 10th booking in La Liga this season as Barcelona beat Levante 2-1 on Sunday at Camp Nou. It means he will miss Sunday's game at Real Betis.
It's a worry considering the size of Barcelona's squad at the moment. They have just three centre-backs in the first team. Pique is the only right-footer. The other two, Clement Lenglet and Samuel Umtiti, are both left-footed.
Pique's caution against Levante was also his 14th in all competitions this season in just 27 appearances. He has already doubled the seven he picked up in 52 games last season.
The Catalan defender is sitting second in the table for most bookings in the league, just behind Wakaso, who played 16 games for Alaves before joining Jiangsu Suning in China. During 1,288 minutes of action, Wakaso was booked 12 times. Two of them came in the same game, against Granada.
Now, with Wakaso having left the Spanish league, no active player in the league has more bookings than Pique.
