Gerard Pique working to get back as soon as possible
The defender will be out for months but needs to come back and help the team
Ronald Araujo and Oscar Mingueza have shown they can play at La Liga level in Gerard Pique's absence. They have even forced Clement Lenglet out of the team. Despite that, Pique is essential for Barca and Ronald Koeman.
He knows that and is working as hard as possible to get back into action. At a prize ceremony where he was given a sporting merit trophy by the Catalan government, Pique said he hopes to be back as soon as possible.
"We will try to do things correctly and the plan is to return as soon as I can. I know it's an injury which isn't easy, but we're going to do it. I'm going to fight and try to help the team as soon as possible."
Pique is impressed with the youngsters. "Very good players are coming out of the academy, players the coach is trusting in. With confidence and responsibility, we will have very good players in the near future, more than we have already, who are at a high level. I am very confident, the feelings are better than the results and I think we will move forward."
