The Barcelona defender is keen to get going after missing the end of last season injured

Gerard Pique ended last season playing through injury, so much so that in the end he decided to stop. The last game he played was May 1 against Mallorca where he was not able to finish the first half. Days later Barcelona confirmed he had an adductor injury. Until today he's been involved in the tour of the USA with one clear objective - to play in the Clasico against Real Madrid.

The defender, one of the first teams captains, trained normally during the various sessions that the team has had in Miami although he did leave the pitch on Monday during the afternoon session with open doors for the media. He did so accompanied by Xavi Valle the first team medic and Jaume Munill, the physio of the first team.

A little precaution is sensible with an annoying injury even though it has improved to the point where Pique sees himself as able to play some minutes against Real Madrid. In fact it is thought as if there are no more setbacks the defender will get his medical clearance to play in Las Vegas and will not miss the first clash of the season against Barcelona's eternal rivals. With various new players arriving excitement is high and Pique is raring to go.
