The Barcelona player was in Madrid to promote his new look tournament
Gerard Pique trained with Barcelona in the morning but was in Madrid in the afternoon to give a presentation on the new Davis Cup format that he has constructed through his company Kosmos.
The player was asked about the competition, which will be hosted in the Spanish capital for the next two years. "I haven't spoken with the president about this," he said, referring to Josep Maria Bartomeu, the Barcelona chief. "Sometimes we meet about other things, for example e-sports."
The Catalan player is hopeful Rafa Nadal will play in his new-look tournament if he is fit.
“If the No 1 in the world is playing, that’s more than enough,” explained Pique. “Rafa is very positive about this event, especially because it is taking place in Madrid.”
