Gerard Pique surprised Barcelonismo by announcing his retirement from football on Thursday.
The defender said his last game at Camp Nou would be on Saturday against Almeria, but not that it would be his last game.
The defender is expecting to travel to Pamplona to face Osasuna on Tuesday and his retirement will become effective from December 31.
However given that his last game at Camp Nou is this week, that means he will not face Espanyol at the end of the year when Barcelona host their rivals - as much as Pique has always enjoyed facing them.
