Deulofeu still has a lot of confidence in himself despite not being picked for the game
Gerard Deulofeu was one of the images of the game between Barcelona and Sporting Lisbon at Camp Nou Tuesday. Despite it being a game in which many first team players were rested with nothing at stake, including Leo Messi put on the bench, Deulofeu did not get a single minute.
Deulofeu, who was not called up for the game against Celta Vigo, was on the bench. Next to Leo Messi, but watching Aleix Vidal play on the wing, while other players including Messi and Paulinho came on later, while Deulofeu did not even warm up.
Nobody can doubt that he's improved a lot in the team play and defensively, but he's not having a lot of luck. His talent should be able to break this bad run and allow him to take advantage next time he's given an opportunity.
Not to play against Sporting would have been a blow for Deulofeu, although those that know him insist he feels supported by Valverde and is not planning to leave.
