The Dutch midfielder could have come to Camp Nou but chose PSG instead

Georginio Wijnaldum was asked again about why he did not move to Barcelona this summer and instead came to Paris Saint-Germain.

“As I have said before, you’re guided by sensations,” said the midfielder to L’Equipe. “For months I wanted to stay at Liverpool but, without getting into it, Liverpool didn’t give me the feeling that they wanted me to stay. In these cases you have to keep moving forward.

“So Barcelona arrived. I was excited because as a kid, like most Dutch players, it was the club of my dreams, although I should admit that my idol was Zinedine Zidane, a Real Madrid player.

“I had a very good feeling for Barca, but negotiations dragged on a lot and PSG arrived. They showed they wanted to sign me. It was time for me to see something new. Bayern and Inter also wanted me.”
