The left-back will sign a new deal with Los Che soon

Jose Luis Gaya will extend his contract with Valencia until 2028 in a move that is likely to cool Barcelona's interest in the Spain left-back.

An agreement has been reached after the most recent meeting between Gaya's camp and the club's hierarchy, with his current deal due to expire in the summer.

Gaya has long been of interest to Barça and the fact he was potentially available for free next year had made him an interesting market opportunity.

Talks have been ongoing for months to tie him down to a new deal and an agreement had finally been reached for him to extend for five more years at Mestalla, where he is happy in the new project led by coach Gattuso.

Gaya's release clause will be €100 million, which is much more than Barça would be willing to play for the La Roja international. The deal will be signed in the coming days.
