Gavi's new role at Barcelona rekindles the interest from several teams

Xavi Hernandez seems to have a clear plan with four midfielders, but in this equation Gavi does not fit into a starting role at the moment. Pedri, De Jong and Gundogan have the advantage and the team needs the anchor of Oriol Romeu in the big games. Gavi is going to lose minutes and that has rekindled the interest of some teams, especially Chelsea and PSG, who if they had a chance would sign the Blaugrana youth player.

Gavi started pre-season with an injury and that has weighed him down in minutes, but the reality is that he may have less participation in the XI if there are no injuries and sanctions. Gavi will have minutes and, above all, he will play in the home games. In fact, this week it is likely that either Gundogan or De Jong will be ahead of the defence and the home-grown player could start in the eleven. In the top-level games, it will be a different matter.

Gavi's breakthrough was huge. The home-grown player took his chance very well, but this season they have signed players to start in the centre and that has not gone unnoticed. At Getafe, he played very little and we will have to see how the season evolves.

In any case, Gavi only has Barça in his mind, if he wanted to leave, he wouldn't have renewed for less than he could have earned elsewhere. The canterano had opportunities on the table, but he didn't want to listen to anybody. His only desire is to succeed at Barça, although anything can happen in the future depending on the importance he has in the team. 

During the summer, clubs such as Chelsea and PSG have approached him without any possibility of signing him. Neither he nor Barça wanted to negotiate, but the interest is still there. The English club is bursting the market and PSG has cash and their coach, Luis Enrique, has always bet on the player. Barça know that they have an asset of many carats and they will have to manage Gavi's substitutions because he wants to play all the time, no matter what.
