The former Blaugrana chief says Figo now has some company

Gaspart has not enjoyed Neymar's attitude in recent weeks

Ex-Barcelona president Joan Gaspart has compared Neymar's move to Paris Saint-Germain with Luis Figo's transfer to Real Madrid in the summer of 2000.

Speaking to El Larguero on Cadena Ser, he said: "Neymar is in the same boat as Figo, who was alone but now he has Neymar for company. Two players who left through the back door."

In contrast, Gaspart feels Diego Maradona and Ronaldo in a different manner: "I’ve seen great players, like [Diego] Maradona and Ronaldo, who were better than Neymar, also leave Barca because other clubs paid their clauses. But they went with dignity, without making so much fuss."

UNFORGIVABLE

For Gaspart, the Brazilian's attitude has been unforgivable these last few weeks: "I’ve not liked [Neymar’s] attitude with the club, with the supporters and with his teammates. Too much 'I love you, I don't love you, I love you, I don't love you..."

And he says there's only one person to blame: "It hurts me that people I respect are using this to blame the club. Neymar’s the one to blame, full stop.

“It’s not Barca’s fault. It’s not the board’s fault. It’s not the player’s fault… they did everything for him to stay. It’s Neymar’s fault.”

Gaspart is not worried about the future because "with the players that we have and that will come we will keep competing and winning a lot of titles."

And he concluded by saying that "Neymar is a great player, that can't be denied, but in life no one is irreplaceable. From here, Barça will know how to strengthen with the players they need to have a successful season."
