The Barca B coach is pleased with his and Mingueza's games with the first team

Garcia Pimienta spoke after Barca B faced Espanyol B in the derby on Sunday, having earned a 1-0 win through Peque.

The B team coach spoke about Oscar Mingueza and Ilaix Moriba.

“Ilaix is doing very well, he’s a success for us, when you’re in the B team you are forming players with aim of them arriving to the first team and if that happens I’m the happiest guy in the world,” said Garcia Pimienta.

“(On his renewal) We have make the effort with the players who are good enough, who have a first team profile, they have earned it. We try and make players who can arrive in the first team, it’s better to stick with what we have than going elsewhere to find it.

“They have Blaugrana hearts, they want to be players in the first team, and it will be easier for a player from here to stay than one who comes from outside.”

On Mingueza, he added: “I had him for three seasons, we had an internal fight because he’s good but it was really hard for him to be a starter for the B team for errors he should not be committing.

“We spoke this year, it was his season, he had to give everything and when he got his chance, take advantage of it. He has that improved maturity he didn't have before and easily the level to be in the first team.”
