Galatasaray the only club ready to pay transfer fee for Memphis Depay

Barcelona are open to the Dutchman's departure with his contract up in June

Memphis Depay will return to Barcelona training next week. The Dutch forward, who has been at the World Cup in Qatar with his country, will meet with Xavi Hernandez to talk about his situation and his future ahead of the January window. The club has no intention of letting him leave for free, even though his contract ends on June 30, 2023.

However, only one club has so far shown a will to pay a transfer fee. It comes from the Turkish side Galatasaray, who are very interested in acquiring the services of the ex-Lyon and Manchester United attacker.

Memphis has hardly counted for Xavi so far this season. He has made just three official appearances, although in part that is down to injuries, too.

He did not want to leave in the summer despite the fact that Xavi made it clear that he would have a secondary role given the array of forwards at Camp Nou.

TUG-OF-WAR

Therefore, going into the winter window, it looks like there will be a tug-of-war between the two parties again.

Barça will not let him leave for free as Memphis wants, as it would allow him to look for a more succulent contract. Galatasaray, for now, does not seduce him.
