The Dutch midfielder played as a pivote in the second half of the 2-1 beating by Chelsea

Frenkie De Jong was left with a bittersweet taste after his debut as a Barcelona player. "Unfortunately it was not a good game and we lost, but I feel good that it was my first game, my first minutes, and I'm happy," said the midfielder.

He said that Ernesto Valverde didn't give him too many instructions. "Just a few things about the team tactics and the pressing, and bringing the ball out, but not too much."

De Jong said that on the pitch "I felt very comfortable in midfield because my team-mates helped me a lot, the feelings have been good."

He played in the pivote role. "For me it's not important to play in one position or another, what I like is playing and it doesn't matter where that is. Valverde didn't tell me that I was just going to play in one fixed position."

On Riqui Puig: "He's very talented. I think that we can be excited about his future."
