Franco Foda talks about the hype around Yusuf Demir
The Austrian forward is a Barca first team player this season
Yusuf Demir earned himself a Barcelona debut already with good pre-season performances and also the No 11 shirt.
His impact at Barça has not gone unnoticed in his home country, where Austria coach Franco Foda spoke about him to Barca Times.
“He surprised all of us,” said Foda. “Nobody in Austria expected he would be a Barca first-team player this year. Nobody thought he was going to play with the first team in the preseason, we thought he was going to Barca B.”
Foda is not starting him for Austria at the moment. He explained how the hype has grown around the young forward.
“Today he’s considered the most promising player in Austrian football, no doubt. Since we started to know he would be a first-teamer at Barca, a big hype wave started in Austria with him.”
Demir came off the bench against Israel in their game at the weekend.
