Former Barça coach Sarabia: In Vigo, what happened, happened

Eder Sarabia spoke about his relationship with the Barça players at his Andorra unveiling

Gerard Pique has bet on Eder Sarabia to take over as coach of Andorra, who play in the regionalised third tier of Spanish football.

Quique Setien's former No.2, who spent eight months at Barcelona in 2020, has been chosen by Pique to try and get Andorra promoted to the second division.

He was unveiled on Tuesday and, in a press conference, was asked about his relationship with Pique, as well as Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez.

Sarabia endured some difficult moments when he was Barça No.2. He was criticised for his touchline behaviour in the Clasico and appeared to be blanked by Messi during a team talk in a game against Celta Vigo during a drinks break.

"Well, let's see, it's clear that if a person like Gerard, who's in the same dressing room, chooses me for this job, I think that silences some rumours or things that could have been misinterpreted," Sarabia said.

"It's true there were moments in games when there was tension. I can't deny arguments occasionally on the pitch and in the dressing room ... and in that famous drinks break in Vigo, what happened happened.

"But these things are understood as part of the job, what happens when you are all demanding the most. No problems. I learned a lot with the time I was at Barça and what I keep with me are the good times, the positives.

"I am delighted, grateful to be able to have lived what I lived, to have gone to the training ground every day with those great players. No one will take that away from me."
