Victor Font has never hidden his plans for FC Barcelona should he be named president of the club. Speaking to RAC1's 'Tu Diras' program about Josep Maria Bartomeu's recent decisions, including the fact he will remain in charge until March 2021, Font didn't shy away from admitting his ideas are completely different to the current president's.
"You have to appreciate that Koeman wants to come to Barça under these circumstances but it's a shame. He's arrived to a project that has no structure and not future. It's a risk which should have been avoided. If our candidacy is successful, we won't choose him," confessed Font. He's continously said that Xavi Hernandez will be the person to lead his project. "I haven't signed any deal with Xavi. Our project is based on him and he will form a large part of all this."
Font also weighed in on the debate and speculation surround Messi's future. "We need to make sure that Messi finishes his career at Barça and afterwards he remains affliated with this club. It's a shame that he's cast doubt on his future here becaue of what's happening right now. Bartomeu should have stepped down after the match as the club's interests are above everything (and everyone) else."
