The Bayer Leverkusen midfielder is on the Barcelona wishlist

Barça's technical department is not resting and, although it will be difficult to make big signings this summer, they are already starting to work on the 2024 market. By 2024, Barça have already set themselves a target: to convince Florian Wirtz. The 19-year-old Bayer Leverkusen star is one of the biggest talents on the continent and according to Sky Sport Germany, the first contact has already been made.

Moreover, the same information explains that there has already been a call from Barca to the player's father to find out about his situation. With a contract until 2027, the club will have to negotiate an exit for him and that will not be easy, since there are also other big European clubs after him.

Despite this, Barça have an important advantage in that on several occasions, Wirtz has explained his feelings for the club. In an interview for Bild last year, the German said: "When I was a kid I always wanted to play for Barcelona. That hasn't changed, but I still have some time before that can happen.

In other statements he has not been so blunt, but what is clear is that the interest is mutual.

Just as Barça are not considering his arrival this summer, the player also wants to stay in Germany. Under the orders of Xabi Alonso and already recovered from his knee problem, the midfielder is playing a leading role in the team, which is perfect for his development.

"Florian is in good hands with Bayer until Euro 2024. Of course, every young player wants to play with the best, but Florian is still with Bayer until Euro 2024 in good hands," his father said earlier this year.

Barça will continue to monitor the player during this period so that, once Euro 2024 is over, they will be able to 'poach' one of the most promising players on the continent.
