Florentino Perez, obsessed with Haaland not going to Barcelona

The Real Madrid chief wants to get involved in the deal and ensure the Norwegian goes elsewhere

The final push for Erling Haaland is beginning. All the clubs that want him are starting to negotiate with Mino Raiola and Real Madrid are one of them. Florentino Perez, who is getting Kylian Mbappe anyway, still wants the Norwegian. He knows it’s hard because Haaland will prioritise a club where he will be the star man, but he is still getting involved. His main idea is that it’s better for Haaland to go to PSG or the Premier League ahead of Barcelona.

Madrid are sure that Haaland and Mbappe will be the stars of the next decade. With Benzema it seems that there’s no place for Haaland, with Mbappe already coming. Madrid’s fear is he ends up at Barcelona.

Bayern Munich, Man City, Man United, Chelsea and Liverpool are interested. If PSG can’t renew Mbappe’s deal, they too will try.

Madrid’s move for Haaland now is not a bluff but they do think they won’t get him. However Florentino making a high offer is a move that a Premier League club could beat and would make life very hard for Barcelona.

The Catalans are calm. They have told Raiola they want him and believe that with their young squad they can win a lot over many years. The financing is planned and they are working on reducing their salary bill. There’s a long way to go.
