Portuguese winger Gelson Martins is being followed by Barça scouts
Gelson Martins is a player being watched by Barcelona, as Ariedo Braida has revealed. He's a young winger who has developed under Jorge Jesus and his having an excellent season with Sporting Club. So good, in fact, he's been called up to the Portugal squad. He's a player being watched by many European clubs and Barça have already missed the chance to sign him once, in 2012. For now, he has a contract with Sporting until 2021 and his release clause is 60 million euros.
Born in Cape Verde on May 11, 1995, he didn't make his first team debut until last January. A product of Sporting's academy, Gelson Martins has always played as a right winger for the club's youth sides, as well as for Portugal's underage sides. Now he's in Fernando Santos' full squad. This season he's played nine times, scoring twice and creating six more goals.
