Inside Ferran Torres's new life in Barcelona

Ferran Torres has not had an easy start to Barcelona life. The suspense over his registration, then getting Covid and a Clasico defeat on his debut. Bit by bit he’s eased his way in, the team are improving and his sporting and personal adaption to life in Barcelona is going well. Ferran is ready for take-off.

While in a hotel after signing, he tested positive for Covid, which made for a frustating quarantine. 

Once he got the green light, Sergio Busquets was in charge of making his integration as smooth as possible. Both went in the same car on the way to training, which helped break the ice.

With the captain there is a special feeling, but he also has a great relationship with Eric, Pedri, Gavi and Jordi Alba, among others. They are all Spanish national team-mates.

Now Ferran has a house near the beach, close to various colleagues. His Mediterranean DNA has encouraged that spot. In his new home, where for now he lives alone, work is already underway on building a gym. It’s one of his obsessions. He will be able to work with a personal trainer from home too. In his free time he’ll watch Valencia and Man City games, as well as the NBA, where he supports the Lakers.

Against Atletico he worked hard and was especially good in the final stages after Alves’s red card. He was exhausted at the end. He did not shine with the ball but inside the club they liked his game. Xavi set him a series of challenges as false nine and Torres responded. It’s hard to think for now that he’ll return to the wing; only Aubameyang can displace him, and the Gabon forward is not yet fit.

From the stands, his family enjoyed a great afternoon at Camp Nou. Both for the forward’s game and also the atmosphere, one of the best in recent times.

Afterwards, Ferran went to speak to Daniel Wass, his former team-mate, injured in an unfortunate action between the two. He’s been in contact since, after it was confirmed the Dane has a grade two knee sprain.
