FC Barcelona striker Ferran Torres was one of the main absentees from Luis De la Fuente's first squad list, in charge of the national team after the departure of Luis Enrique. On the eve of the duels against Norway and Scotland in key qualifiers for Euro 2024, the new leader has left out 15 of the last World Cup players.

The Valencian, who has not yet exploded in Xavi Hernandez's Barça team, has been a regular in recent years, but the new coach has left him out of the first list, something that has provoked all kinds of reactions. As a senior international he has played 35 games with a goalscoring record of 15 goals.

Questioned about his form, footballing level and personal relationship with Luis Enrique (he is the partner of his daughter), the striker's agency, Leaderbrock Sports, was blunt on their Instagram profile through a story: "15 goals and many titles since the U-17. The steps can't be erased. There are people who are going to be very happy today... Now you have your trophy," he wrote.

Later they also published a post in which the player from Foios was seen celebrating a goal with the national team accompanied by a more regular comment: "One of our own".
