The player has had a cyst on his knee for weeks

Barcelona and the player had agreed to remove it but Uruguay don't want to

Uruguayan forward Luis Saurez will have surgery to remove a cyst on his right knee in November. The player and the Barcelona medics have agreed that is the solution. However it is not considered the best course of action in Uruguay.

Alberto Pan, the chief medic, says the operation has not entered his plans and did not like finding out the news through the media.

"It is not good to generate a history of problems when the problems do not exist," said Dr. Pan who was in favor of not eliminating the cyst, although its presence causes discomfort for Suarez and does not allow him to play at a hundred percent.

"The meniscal cyst is a pathology that produces suffering when not receiving treatment, but normally it is allowed to evolve to see the degree of tolerance that has and then go through various therapeutic instances," the doctor told Radio Universal.

Pan said that if Suarez can get over the annoyane of it he will not be operated on. "Right now he doesn't need it," he explained, with Barcelona and Suarez still planning on operating during the next international break.
