Fans to return to Spanish stadiums for the start of the 21-22 season

Spanish stadiums will have fans back from next season, both football and basketball, it was confirmed on Thursday.

The health minister Carolina Arias made the announcement in a press conference, although the capacity will depend on what each autonomous region decides.

For now, the government have lifted the Royal Decree on fans now being allowed into grounds and it's now up to each region to make a respective decision.

"we will return to normality with regards to attendances in our stadiums for the start of La Liga and the ACB (basketball league," Arias said.

"I am convinced the news will be well received and accepted in sport in our country."

Therefore, the restrictions brought in to deal with the coronavirus pandemic have been lifted, in part thanks to the vaccination program in the country.
