Fabinho's father reveals Barça were in for the Monaco right-back

The former Real Madrid player is likely to move to the Premier League in the summer

Monaco right-back Fabinho is one of the most sought-after players in his position. Various European clubs have tried to sign him in recent months.

And his father, Joao, has told Canal+ in France that there were even talks with Barcelona regarding a transfer which did not happen in the end.

"I neogtiated with Manchester United, Manchester City and Arsenal, but there was also a request from Barcelona, although in the end [Fabinho] stayed with Monach where he's continued growing," he said.

Joao didn't want to give too much away, but did suggest that his son is more likely to move to the Premier League eventually.

"Fabinho rates the work [Jose] Mourinho does with his teams, but if I am being honest, I would say that he has a weakness for Manchester City," he added.

Fabinho was signed for Real Madrid by Mourinho and played for the B team, while also getting some minutes in the first team.

However, he eventually left the European champions and has began to fulfill his potential in France with Monaco.
