Exclusive: Samuel Umtiti will play against Deportivo de la Coruna

The French centre-back's injury is healing nicely and he is expected to start the next game

Samuel Umtiti has been feeling good in the last few days. The player is recovering with physiotherapist Juanjo Brau, who is working to get him fit for the next game, against Deportivo de la Coruna on October 15.

Umtiti, who worked on the grass at the end of last week, is improving after his knee problem. They imagine by the end of the week he will be ready for group training and then on to a full recovery from there.

The objective of the technical team, player and medics is that Samuel Umtiti can arrive in perfect condition for the return of La Liga. Not just that, but to be ready to start and play 90 minutes. Why? Well, the rest of Barcelona's defenders could be a bit burned out by international duty - above all Javier Mascherano, who comes back from Argentina and could have jet lag. Pique is also likely to play full matches for Spain and could rest against Depor to be fit for the Man City clash which follows.

Only Jeremy Mathieu is the other centre-back without international games - but he and Umtiti have similar profiles - left-footed.
