Exclusive images: Leo Messi travelled to Argentina after Catalan derby
The star wasted no time and headed straight for home on a private jet with his brother after another spectacular showing in the 4-1 win over Espanyol at Camp Nou
Barcelona's Argentine star Lionel Messi produced an incredible performance against Espanyol, dazzling with his dribbling and close control, creating two goals and scoring one for himself.
And with his work done, and with the permission of his manager, he began his Christmas break. Messi didn't want to spend a day waiting for his holiday to begin and took advantage of his extended time off to head straight to El Prat airport.
His brother Rodrigo was in charge of managing the 'operation' as he was also on the flight towards Argentina, along with his two children. Security tried to stop the access of television cameras at the terminal to avoid footage of Messi being captured. SPORT can offer exclusive images of the Barça forward arriving at the airport with his two nephews, though.
The rest of the Messi family, his father, Antonella and his two children, had travelled the day before on a regular flight. They will be reunited shortly in Argentina and, as revealed by SPORT a few days ago, they will being 'work' planning the Leo-Antonella wedding.
