The player is injured and Barcelona do not want to risk him

On January 20, Barcelona announced that Jose Arnaiz was out of the B team game against Tenerife for "dynamic osteopathy of the pubis". There was no recovery time listed. More than two weeks have passed and the striker has missed two other games, against Granada and Cordoba. It's a complicated injury and in other cases players have played despite inflammation, but Barca do not want to take risks.

What's true is that Arnaiz has had a lot of pain which has prevented him from running. On other days the sensations have been better, but it's an injury that requeires patience. Physiotherapy and conservative treatment is the best remedy. Given Arnaiz is an explosive player, a risk of relapse is high if he is played again too quickly.

Messi precedent

The list of players who has suffered this problem is long and some have had operations in the summer after conservative treatment did not work. It includes Xabi Alonso, Nico Pareja, Ander Herrerra...

Another aspect to take into accoutn is Messi. In September 2016 he had strong pubis pains and forced his return. Coming back quickly changed his movement, to avoid aggravating the pubis, and he hurt his abductor in his right leg as a result.
